The challenge
Cority is a leading EHS software provider with a global clientele that includes high-profile organizations such as NASA and Airbus, all of whom have exacting standards and expectations.
Historically, workflows and new features were developed without UX input, which resulted in usability challenges and dissatisfied clients.
I was brought on as the UX Owner for the Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Quality suites to identify usability challenges and elevate the overall user experience. These suites were highly complex, reflecting the sophisticated tasks users needed to perform, and I worked to streamline workflows and interactions to ensure the platform consistently met the high expectations of its global user base.
The process
UX audit
When I joined the team, I conducted a comprehensive UX audit across the suites and products under my responsibility. This involved a detailed analysis of the user interface, user experience, workflows, and key features.
Through this process, I identified critical gaps that were negatively impacting the overall user experience and informed targeted improvement strategies.
Collaboration with business team
Following the completion of a comprehensive UX audit, I presented the findings to the business team, highlighting key usability issues and opportunities for improvement.
I provided actionable recommendations and proposed the implementation of UX best practices to enhance the overall user experience.
hrough close collaboration, we collectively prioritized initiatives, aligned on business and user goals, and defined a clear roadmap for execution, ensuring that UX insights directly informed product decisions and drove measurable improvements.
User testing
I translated insights from both my own research and in-depth discussions with the business team into multiple wireframe iterations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and user needs. I then developed interactive prototypes, which were validated through internal and external A/B testing sessions.
The results of these tests, combined with feedback from the business team, allowed me to define the most effective and desirable workflows. I collaborated closely with the development team during the implementation phase, providing guidance to ensure the final product faithfully reflected the intended user experience and business objectives.
Cross-functional collaboration
During the implementation phase, I worked closely with both the development and QA teams to provide guidance, ensuring that the final product accurately reflected the intended user experience while meeting business objectives and quality standards
The results
The improvements I implemented were well-received by clients, who reported that their daily tasks became significantly easier to accomplish.
As part of this work, I also created new components that adhered to the design library’s look and feel, making complex flows more intuitive and easy to use. As a result, Cority recognized the strategic value of a dedicated UX team and expanded its UX resources.
Additionally, the collaboration between the UX and development teams strengthened, fostering more effective communication and alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
