Forms and Favourites integration
Suncentral - Sun Life Financial
For the Forms Experience in Suncentral, I designed and implemented a feature that allows users to mark frequently used forms as favourites. Once selected, the star icon changes colour, providing a clear visual cue and making favourite forms easy to recognize.
These forms are also automatically displayed at the top of the table, improving quick access and efficiency in users’ daily workflows.
Following this success, I developed the Favourites Experience, which enables users to save various items, such as tools, PDFs, and pages, as favourites and access them directly from a dedicated favourites landing page. (For more information about the Favourites Experience, click here.)
After completing this initiative, I identified an opportunity to integrate both the Forms and Favourites experiences, creating a more cohesive and streamlined interaction that enhances overall usability and consistency across the platform.

The challenge
There were two separate experiences within the product, each offering a similar functionality that allowed users to mark items as favourites.
I identified an opportunity to enhance consistency and usability by integrating these experiences. The design challenge was to create a unified solution that enabled both experiences to communicate seamlessly, allowing users to access all their favourite items from a single, centralized location.
The process
Personas.
The site serves three key personas: Advisors, Assistants, and Back-Office staff; each with unique workflows, requiring tailored experiences and features.
This integration would be consistent across all personas.
Analysis of both experiences
Even though I designed both experiences, I revisited the fundamentals of each to determine the best approach for integrating them.
Additionally, since both experiences demanded significant effort and time from the entire squad, I evaluated opportunities to leverage existing work and maximize efficiency wherever possible.
Wireframing
After completing a thorough analysis of both features, I began developing multiple design iterations, carefully considering not only the visual aesthetics but also the functional implications of each option.
Throughout the process, I remained focused on identifying the optimal solution while being mindful of the positive user feedback these experiences had already received, ensuring that any changes would enhance rather than compromise the existing user satisfaction.
Cross-functional collaboration
Worked closely with Product and Development teams to align design solutions with business goals and technical feasibility, ensuring seamless implementation and impactful user experiences.
The Forms and Favoruites experiences integration
I designed an integration that allows users to add their most frequently used forms to the Favourites landing page, providing quick and easy access directly from the forms table.
Within the Forms experience, users can create a new folder, add forms to an existing folder, or do both; automatically reflecting their selection on the Favourites landing page.
To enable this integration, I introduced an ellipsis menu within the forms table, giving users the option to add forms to Favourites. The choice of an ellipsis menu, rather than a single icon, was strategic: it allows for future expansion, such as adding actions like sharing forms with their team.
When a user selects “Add to Favourites,” I leveraged the existing components and modals from the Favourites experience to ensure consistency across the platform. This approach reduced development effort, maintained a unified design language, and provided a familiar, intuitive workflow for users.
The integration received positive feedback from users, confirming that it enhanced efficiency and usability.
