First, let me tell you about Storyteller
Blueprint Storyteller is an enterprise agile requirements platform that automates the generation of high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria from visual process models. It synchronizes complex user journeys across the development lifecycle via seamless bi-directional integration with tools like Atlassian JIRA.
Overview
I led the refinement of the Storyteller feature, replacing fragmented workflows with a cohesive digital experience. As the UX owner, I architected a system that captures stakeholder needs and automatically translates them into development-ready user stories.
By enabling real-time synchronization with JIRA, this solution ensures requirements stay accurate throughout the development lifecycle and minimizes manual rework. This foundation now serves as the core standard for agile alignment across the platform.
Why are we doing this?
Before this initiative, the Storyteller piece faced critical hurdles in maintaining a cohesive experience across high-scale platform integrations. We identified three core enterprise challenges:
Design System Fragmentation
A lack of an updated UX/UI design system caused significant inconsistencies in the components used across the site.
Siloed Decision-Making
Product decisions were often made without team input, leading to a lack of alignment on core requirements and customer journeys.
Cross-Functional Friction
The relationship between product, development, and UX teams needed optimization to create a space for collaborative, intuitive delivery.

Key challenges
Agile Alignment at Scale
Scaling alignment through UX leadership while managing high-scale platform integrations.
Workflow Governance
Establishing data integrity through task-locking to prevent unauthorized editing and maintain lifecycle management.
Contextual Complexity
Enabling real-time, inline editing without forcing users to navigate away from the primary board view.
Technical Fidelity
Partnering with React developers to ensure accurate interaction behaviors for complex UI mockups and process editors.
Our goals
Streamline Communication: Replace fragmented workflows with cohesive visual modeling.
Automate Synchronization: Enable real-time JIRA integration to ensure requirement accuracy.
Bridge the Strategy Gap: Unify the digital experience between business strategy and IT execution.
Foster Intuitive Delivery: Optimize cross-functional team relationships for user-centered delivery.
Taking a deep dive
To drive strategic alignment, I joined developer stand-ups to provide real-time feedback and ensure design-to-development fidelity. I focused on refining the visual modeling tool that enables users to define complex system interactions and customer journeys.
I maintained ongoing feedback loops with product and engineering to ensure that Storyteller's visual modeling and Kanban boards remained intuitive while solidifying high-fidelity, real-time synchronization with JIRA.
The Strategy: UX Advocacy & Alignment
I collaborated with the UX team to define core design principles, then communicated the "why" across teams to foster a user-centered mindset. By formalizing a cohesive design system and reusable collaboration components, I ensured the platform could support future features with standardized patterns.
Design Process
I led the enhancement of enterprise design system components, working closely with React developers to translate complex process editors into functional UI. I integrated active collaboration tools, including threaded comments and task sharing, to synchronize communication across cross-functional teams.
The process focused on orchestrating Blueprint's first unified Storyteller experience, one that allows stakeholders to push validated requirements directly into development sprints.
Roadblocks & Challenges
This project involved bridging the disconnect between business strategy and technical execution in a complex enterprise landscape. I advocated for a user-centered approach while maintaining the strict data governance required for high-scale platform integrations.
Data Integrity
Balancing deep user control with system governance to maintain enterprise-level trust.
Bridging the Business-IT Gap
Aligning business strategy with technical execution through visual modeling.
Collaboration Synchronization
Overcoming siloed decision-making to create a collaborative environment for intuitive delivery.
Let’s design
The refinement of Storyteller transformed requirements gathering from a manual, fragmented process into an automated, collaborative experience. Key design implementations included:
-
Contextual Inline Editing: Streamlined the update process by enabling real-time name editing directly on the board, reducing navigation clicks.
-
Optimized Screen Real Estate: Introduced a collapsible utility panel, hidden by default, to allow for full visualization of the complex Kanban board.
-
Interactive State Feedback: Implemented hover states on cards to provide immediate visual affordance and enhanced navigational clarity.
-
Granular Task Management: Empowered users with precision drag-and-drop capabilities for flexible resource management and task reassignment.
-
Structural Scannability: Included real-time task counters and expand/collapse card functionality to provide an instant view of the workload.
High-density enterprise data remains intuitive when supported by clear visual affordance and a robust design system.

The Impact & Key Takeaways
This project orchestrated Blueprint’s first unified Storyteller experience, proving that unifying fragmented workflows through proactive communication is essential for agility at scale. What I’m most proud of is how this work:
Optimizes Enterprise Workflows
Set a new standard for managing complex, data-heavy workflows by unifying visual modeling and optimizing screen real estate.
Drives Organizational Agility
Strengthened how teams interact with live data by reducing dependency on manual documentation through automated JIRA pushes.
Balances Complexity and Clarity
Reinforced that high-density enterprise data remains intuitive when supported by clear visual affordance like hover states and inline editing.
UX-Led Collaboration
Implemented a strategic UX process that unified siloed teams, fostering a collaborative environment that improved delivery speed and product quality.
